Blackwater Chesapeakes started with our first Chesapeake back in 1987. Teal took High In Trial in obedience at the American Chesapeake Specialty held in Michigan and we were hooked.

As a breeder we decided we wanted all purpose dogs....dogs that looked good but could also do what they were bred to do...RETRIEVE! We also wanted dogs with good temperaments, proper conformation and working abilities.

We have produced dogs with Show Championships, Hunt Test Titles, Obedience titles, Agility titles and Field Trial Titles. Our dogs are breeder-owner-handled and are Amateur trained for all Field work.

Our dogs are a big part of our family. All breeding stock are OFA/Cerfed/PRA/EIC and DM tested. Puppies are raised in our home where they experience everyday life. All puppies have their declaws removed, wormed, vaccinations, vet checked and come with a health certificate.
